• Can be grown on Phe, Tyr, Tryp plus 4-aminobenzoic acid, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid and 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid, all at 10^-6M.
• This strain was F⁺, but may no longer be so.
• rph-1-- is a 1 bp deletion that results in frameshift over last 15 codons and has polar effect on pyrE leading to suboptimal pyrimidine levels on minimal medium.(Jensen 1993 JBact.175:3401)
• glnV42(AS) was formerly called supE42
• Am = amber(UAG) mutation
• AS = amber(UAG) suppressor
