Strain Comments:

• Reference below for prfB1 mutation from Ryden-Aulen and Isaksson. This strain carries an independent allele, perhaps identical, but an earlier one from Vinopal's laboratory.
• The strain will grow without Leu at 42C, with similar growth as at 30C. Any temperature sensitivity of suppression is not dramatic.
• This strain is Lac^-; identity of allele as yet unknown. The leu (UGA) allele was transduced into K-12 along with ara⁺.
• glnV42(AS) was formerly called supE42
• [leu-48](UGA) was formerly called leu-2
• prfB11(UGAs) was formerly called supK
• AS = amber(UAG) suppressor
• strR = streptomycin resist.
• UGA = opal(UGA) mutation
